TAsia Pasifik Habitat III: Memunculkan Isu Agenda Perkotaan – Strategi dan Rekomendasi untuk Kesetaraan Gender dan Pemberdayaan Perempuan di Pemerintahan Lokal

Pertemuan Regional (Regional Meeting) Asia Pasifik Habitat III di Jakarta yang akan berlangsung selama dua hari tanggal 21 dan 22 Oktober 2015 akan mengeluarkan rekomendasi-rekomendasi wilayah Asia Pasifik terkait isu-isu urban. Beberapa forum diskusi (side events) dilangsungkan secara bersamaan dengan maksud memberikan platform untuk pemerintah di kawasan Asia Pasifik, kelompok akademis, masyarakat sipil, sektor bisnis, perwakilan internasional maupun nasional serta lembaga keuangan serta badan UN lainnya dengan tujuan untuk saling berdebat, menunjukkan kasus atau pandangan mereka terkait pembangunan perkotaan yang berkelanjutan sekaligus memperkenalkan praktik baik (best practices) dari program atau proyek mereka dan semua hal yang terkait perspektif regional mengenai Agenda Perkotaan Baru (New urban Agenda).Read more.

Habitat III – Asia Pacific Regional Meeting: Opening session

Pada hari ini dimulai Pertemuan Regional (Regional Meeting) Habitat III yang diselenggarakan oleh Pemerintah Republik Indonesia bertempat di Fairmont Convention Center, Jakarta. Agenda ini merupakan agenda lanjutan setelah pada hari sebelumnya dilaksanakan Asia-pacific Urban Forum (APUF) keenam yang berlangsung pada tanggal 19-21 Oktober 2015. Women’s participation for disaster risk reduction of vulnerable communities

In September 2015, United Nations (UN) member countries accepted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) put forth by UN. Ending poverty is one of the important priorities of the UN SDGs, which expresses poverty as not only lack of income and resources but also as the lack of participation in decision-making. Another goal about gender equality talks of providing equal opportunity to women through representation in decision-making processes. The current status vis-à-vis women’s participation in decision-making is minimal or negligible with India ranking 132 out of 187 countries on the gender inequality index.
